Working with Us
Farren Architects has developed a "jargon-free client-friendly approach" to their architectural process, based on the RIBA's Plan of Work and designed to keep clients engaged throughout.
The firm outlines eight key stages of an architectural project, from initial feasibility assessment through to final handover.
The opening phase involves determining project objectives and viability, including business case development, site appraisals and planning review.
Getting to know clients involves understanding their needs, surveying the site thoroughly and beginning initial discussions about costs and direction.
Design commencement translates gathered information into sketches, 2D drawings, 3D models and mood boards, with regular client consultations.
The planning stage involves preparing detailed drawings, compiling planning applications and liaising with authorities, with architects managing the process on behalf of clients.
Detailed design follows planning approval, encompassing technical drawings, building control submissions and tender packages for builders.
Builder appointment involves either self-build options or sending tender packages to recommended contractors for assessment and selection.
The construction phase includes on-site management, quality monitoring, cost tracking and regular client updates through calls, photographs and joint site visits.
Handover spans approximately one year post-occupation, addressing snagging issues and ensuring clients can fully enjoy their completed project.
