Glen Road House – Bespoke Modern Farm House in County Derry
Client Aspirations
"To design a bespoke home sited within a farm stead and adjacent to an existing listed cottage" that would accommodate future needs whilst maximising countryside and mountain vistas.
Challenges
Respectful consideration of an adjacent listed cottage, proximity to large two-storey agricultural sheds, location within a valley at village edge, and integration within a working farm yard environment.
Design Response
The architects created a structure reflecting traditional settlement patterns through distinct forms framing private outdoor space. An inverted floor plan positions the kitchen, dining and living areas on the first floor to optimise panoramic mountain views, whilst providing five bedrooms, multiple bathrooms and utility spaces across two storeys.
