Inverfoyle House – Alterations & Extension to Dwelling at Inverfoyle, County Donegal
Client Aspirations
The clients sought a contemporary extension that would maximise natural light, capture views and strengthen outdoor connection. With both working from home, dedicated office space was essential.
Challenges
The sloping site demanded careful design, including retaining walls to integrate the new and existing spaces effectively.
Design Response
A striking two-storey rear extension linked by a light-filled glass corridor provides a master-bedroom suite and lounge opening to a terrace overlooking Lough Foyle. The lower level includes a playroom, spare bedroom, additional bathroom, utility, boot room, plant room and storage space. Multiple outdoor terraces at varying levels visually connect upper and ground-floor living areas. A ground-level partly-covered area features a built-in BBQ and outdoor kitchen. An elevated garden room–office at the rear offers fully glazed views across Lough Foyle, creating an inspiring workspace connected to nature.
