Sconce House - New Build Contemporary Bespoke Rural Home at North Coast
Client Aspirations
"a bespoke contemporary design immersed in natural light" combining modern open-concept living with natural finishes, prioritising countryside connectivity and maximising panoramic views.
Challenges
The site's valley position created depth constraints, whilst nearby neighbouring property overlooked the location, presenting privacy and orientation difficulties.
Design Response
The architects positioned the open-plan kitchen, dining and living area on the first floor with a covered external balcony to leverage scenic vistas. Extensive glazing frames sunlight throughout rooms whilst locally sourced materials ground the design in regional tradition. The floor plan orientates outward toward unobstructed countryside views, minimising sightlines to the neighbouring property, creating a light-filled contemporary sanctuary.
