Limavady House – Replacement Minimalist Farmhouse in County Derry
Client Aspirations
The client sought "a contemporary but robust house with concrete finish inside and out and minimal fixtures and fittings" to accommodate a large family's needs.
Challenges
The dwelling required location within an active farmyard, concrete construction methods, plus navigation of an elevated hilltop site.
Design Response
A linear vernacular design with boardmark and smooth concrete walls, zinc clad roof and hardwood timber frames. The site orientation captures panoramic views towards Lough Foyle and County Donegal, with strategically positioned openings that reflect surrounding farm building typology. Accommodation comprises open-plan living areas, utility space, three bedrooms, a bedroom/playroom and two bathrooms.
